EL PASO, TX - Neighbors say an abandoned house is falling apart and no one is taking responsibility.
"I'm a property owner and this doesn't help the value of my property, or my other neighbors. Someone could get hurt, children or whatever. There could be crimes committed in there," Ruth Mojica-Hammer said.
Anyone can walk off the street and into the house, and neighbors say kids have been doing just that. We're told they're actually crawling under the garage door to party in the house.
Neighbors say the property was foreclosed on and when the bank repossessed the house the people who were living in it left behind piles of trash.
"They would change the oil on their vehicles then they would put it in a container here in the corner, and that container is still there with that dirty oil covered in weeds," Mojica-Hammer said.
Mojica-Hammer says she has seen officials looking at the house but nothing has been done, and other neighbors who didn't want to appear on camera also said they want the home secured and cleaned up.
"Please, let's do something about it."
We called the El Paso's Code Enforcement office and told them about the house. They have now opened up a case, and will start looking into fixing the problem.
