Saturday, June 5: Miguel Cotto defeated Yuri Foreman in a Junior Lightweight Title fight at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. It's the first fight at Yankee Stadium since Muhamman Ali defeated Ken Norton in 1976. Cotto badgered Foreman throughout most of the fight, and in the 8th round, Foreman's corner threw in the towel. It actually was a mistake, somehow, and the ref allowed boxing to continue. Cotto knocked down Foreman with a big body blow in the 9th round for a knockout. What does that mean for Las Cruces Boxer Austin Trout? Trout is 21-0 with 14 knockouts in the junior lightweight division, and is one of the top challengers in that division. Trout's manager, Louie Burke, said a fight could loom in the future against Foreman or Cotto, but likely Cotto now.
