Judge Regina Arditti is expected back in court tomorrow. Her lawyers are now fighting a motion filed by the District Attorney's office, trying to put a gag order on the judge. Attorneys Theresa Caballero and Stuart Leeds say District Attorney Jaime Esparza is now seeking a gag order against Arditti.
Esparza told the media last week he expected Arditti to plead guilty at tomorrow's hearing. But Arditti's new attorneys rebutted that claim. Now Caballero says she's just trying to give her client the chance to dispel those rumors.
"His going to the press and telling the press that she's going to plead guilty is another pressure mechanism he was putting on her, by spoiling any possibility she would have to pick a fair jury," said Caballero.
We called District Attorney Jaime Esparza but we were told he was out of town.
