Saturday, May 29: The Los Angeles Lakers have a chance to defend their NBA World Championship against a familiar foe. The Lakers defeated the Phoenix Suns, 111-103 in game 6 of the Western Conference Finals for their third consecutive berth in the NBA Finals. Kobe Bryant scored 37 points, Ron Artest had 25, and the Lakers beat the Suns 4-2 in the Conference Finals. Game 1 of the NBA Finals will be Thursday in Los Angeles. For the 12th time since the Lakers moved to Los Angeles, they will meet the Celtics for the NBA championship. The Celtics own a 9-2 record over the Lakers in the final, beating L.A. most recently two years ago for their 17th
title.
