El Paso - A local judge accused of nepotism has decided to fight the charges.
Regina Arditti has hired two new attorneys, Theresa Caballero and Stuart Leeds.
Earlier court documents indicated Arditti would plead guilty but in a statement today, Caballero said, "Judge Arditti is pleading not guilty to the bogus nepotism charges District Attorney Esparza has brought against her."
Arditti is accused of hiring the sister of District Judge Manuel Barraza, who was recently convicted in a bribery scandal.
Barraza in turn allegedly hired Arditti's son as a bailiff.
