The New Mexico State baseball team heads into the Western Athletic Conference as the No. 2 seed in this week's Western Athletic Conference Tournament after finishing with a 14-9-1 record in league play.
The Aggie reached the tournament for the first time in 2008 when they dropped their first two games in Ruston, La. Last year, NM State made it to the championship round of the tournament and this year it looks to win it all and move on the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
"We have experienced just about everything in the WAC," senior first baseman Leo Aguirre said. "In my time here I have seen this team go from not-so-good to really good. Times have changed and this year we want to win the whole thing."
The Aggies have a first-round bye in the tournament, which starts Wednesday, May 26 at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz., and will take on the highest-seeded winner from Wednesday's games. Fresno State, who is the No. 1 seed and the 2010 WAC Regular Season Champion, also has a first round bye and will take on the lower seed of the winners from Wednesday.
