EL PASO - The family of a four year-old boy, who drowned in his family pool Sunday, is finding help through hope.

A local charity group has agreed to help pay for the boy's funeral.

The founder of the organization is doing the good deed, despite facing his own misfortune.
When Angel Gomez heard about the tragic drowning of four year-old JaDavion Jordan last weekend, he wanted to do something to help the boy's family.

"We're going to be able to give this boy a proper burial and a beautiful homecoming, " Gomez said. "The little boy is 4 years old and that's exactly what our organization is. Its called Operation H.O.P.E. Its stands for Helping Other People Endure."

Operation H.O.P.E. has been helping people in need since 1993.
The non-profit organization partnered with Del Angel Funeral Home to foot the bill for JaDavion's funeral.

Gomez arrived at the funeral home Thursday to drop off his $1,000 gift, in a rental car, after his own car was stolen the day before.

"I was leaving my apartment complex and was coming down here to the funeral home to make the arrangements for the little man and walked outside and my car was gone," Gomez said.

Despite his own misfortune, Gomez says goodwill is the best way for people to combat life's hardships.

Besides a quick phone conversation, Gomez has yet to meet JaDavion's mother.

"I hope to meet her either this evening or tomorrow and give her a hug," Gomez said.

The viewing for JaDavion Jordan will be Wednesday from 5 - 9 pm at Del Angel Funeral Home on Montana.

Well I know the family and it is a sad situation. First of all the family has lived in the home over 20 years with a pool. The grandfather is elderly and retired military. The mother was diagnosed with mutiple sclerosis a few years ago and can no longer work. The organization stepped in to help and what is the problem with that. No one is prepared to lose a 4 year old and funerals are expensive. Do you say this about the people who get their monthly food stamps and welfare? Get a life.

this family can AFFORD a house with a pool, the insurance involved with the pool, but yet they can't afford a funeral? Give me a break.............

its pretty sad for this to happen..but why is that when someone dies do they go and ask for help to bury their loved ones?????its our responsibilty not the public...is it common pratice here in EL Paso...just saying
