Daniel Hernandez is a big basketball fan and player, but this summer, the Coronado Senior to be has focused all of his attention on Track and Field.  After a Border Championship in the High Jump, Hernandez will compete this weekend in the Region 10 Junior Olympics at Kidd Field on the Campus of UTEP.  He comes from a talented High Jumping family, his brother is a former State of New Mexico State Champion and currently competes at the University of Nebraska.

"It's real exciting to jump against competition... Well, out of El Paso. It's going to be good I think jumping against people that are going to be jumping higher or the same as me. Beau Bagley: Talk about the advice your brother has given you, what kind of advice has Carlos given you? Daniel Hernandez: He's giving me all the tips from Nebraska, so I am learning some good stuff."

The USATF Junior Olympics start Thursday at Kidd Field, and Daniel will jump Saturday morning.
