Child Abuse Cases Increase In The United States

Researchers have uncovered a worrisome statistic and that is the number of child abuse injuries that has increased over the past decade. Using hospital discharge data, the doctors discovered the incidence of serious injuries due to child abuse increased 5% from 1997 to 2009.
This is in contrast to U.S. Child Protective Services data, which shows a decrease in child abuse.
Researchers say this may be because of changes made to how cases are reported to agencies.
