It's something many of us do nearly every time we get behind the wheel.
But, El Paso may soon be the next city to ban cell phones while driving.
Tomorrow city council will decided whether to introduce an ordinance to ban cell phone use while driving.
Similar laws have already been passed in Las Cruces and numerous cities nationwide.
It's widely accepted that talking and texting while driving is extremely dangerous.
Still, many people can't resist doing it behind the wheel.
Rachel Quintana is the City Representative who initiated the ordinance.
She told us her motivation was safety.
If City Council approves introducing the ordinance.
It will then go up for a vote two weeks later.
That's also when council will take public comment.
Quintana says if approved she's hoping to have the ordinace go into effect April 1st.
