Trio of Saint Bernards Await Adoption at Las Cruces Shelter

LAS CRUCES- If you're in the market for a purebred pup, the Las Cruces Animal Shelter may just be able to help you.
Three purebred Saint Bernard dogs are available for adoption at the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley.
Two of the dogs, a male and a female, were picked up by Doña Ana Animal Control Officers in the 5400 block of Antonito, off Weisner Rd. on the East Mesa in Las Cruces. They appear to be siblings, and are estimated to be about two years old. Both are in good health and have been at the shelter since Oct. 16, 2011.
A third St. Bernard, also a female, was brought in as a stray to the shelter on Sept. 12, 2011. She appears to also be between one and two years old, in good health, and has tested negative for heartworm.
The siblings, described as “gentle giants,” are extremely loving and playful, and the male responds to simple commands like “sit” and “shake.” As a rule, the Saint Bernard breed is known for its compatibility with families, and they need regular exercise.
