Two EPPD Officers Recognized for Outstanding Narcotics Work

EL  PASO- Two EPPD Narcotics officers have received awards from the Texas Narcotics Officers Association.

Officer Dirk Hiltl and his canine partner “Lee” were awarded the coveted “Texas Narcotics Canine Detector Team of the Year” for their work in the El Paso region. Since 2010, Officer Hiltl and his canine partner are credited with seizing over 5000 pounds of marijuana, 751 grams of cocaine, 907 grams of hash and over $840,000.

Detective Adrian Ontiveros was awarded the “Texas Narcotics Detective of the Year Award” during the same ceremony. Detective Ontiveros received this award for his work as an “undercover” officer and obtaining information often without the use of an informant. Detective Ontiveros is credited with the seizure of over 78 pounds of marijuana, 192 grams of cocaine, 14 grams of ecstasy and the seizure of over $14,000.

During the same conference Lieutenant Kyle Summers was elected to the Sergeant at Arms Position of T.N.O.A. and will serve on the board in the coming year. Lieutenant Summers will be promoted to President of T.N.O.A. next year.
