EL PASO - An El Paso Police Officer is dead and another seriously injured after an early morning car crash on the eastside.
Officer Karl McDonough was killed when police say a drunk driver ran a red light and T-boned his squad car.
It happened around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Zaragosa and Saul Kleinfeld. McDonough, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officer Ricardo Lopez, the driver of the police car, was sent to University Medical Center with serious injuries but he's expected to recover.
