El Paso - The owner of an El Paso furniture store has avoided jail time in a scheme to skirt IRS laws.
A judge fined Charlotte's Furniture $250,000 as part of a plea deal.
Prosecutors say the store issued enough receipts to a single customer to avoid reporting the cash transactions to the IRS.
The store is owned by Melissa O'Rourke, the mother of City Representative Beto O'Rourke.
