Some names are familiar to Fort Bliss

The U.S. Army released the names of those scheduled for promotion to brigadier general (one-star). You may notice a few familiar names to the Fort Bliss/El Paso area. You may remember Col. D. Scott McKean recently commanded the 4th Brigade (Highlanders), 1st Armored Division; and Col. Christopher Cavoli commanded the 3rd Brigade (Bulldogs), 1st Armored division. 

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

Army Col. Carl A. Alex has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Alex is currently serving as deputy commander (support), 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, N.Y.

Army Col. Christopher F. Bentley has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Bentley is currently serving as commandant, U.S. Army Field Artillery School, U.S. Army Fires Center of Excellence, Fort Sill, Okla.

Army Col. James R. Blackburn has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Blackburn is currently serving as assistant deputy director, operations, J3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Willard M. Burleson III has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Burleson is currently serving as deputy commander, 7th Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.

Army Col. Christopher G. Cavoli has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Cavoli is currently serving as director, chief of staff, Army Coordination Group, Office of the Chief of Staff, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Paul A. Chamberlain has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Chamberlain is currently serving as executive officer to the assistant secretary of the Army (financial management and comptroller), Washington, D.C.

Army Col. William E. Cole has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Cole is currently serving as director, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Richard B. Dix has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Dix is currently serving as executive officer to the deputy chief of staff, G-4, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Jeffrey A. Farnsworth has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Farnsworth most recently served as chief, space capabilities integration, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Bryan P. Fenton has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Fenton is currently serving as director of operations, Joint Special Operations Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Army Col. Patricia A. Frost has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Frost is currently serving as assistant chief of staff, G-3, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Army Col. Jeffrey A. Gabbert has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Gabbert is currently serving as chief of staff, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Douglas M. Gabram has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Gabram most recently served as deputy commander, U.S. Army Aviation Center, Fort Rucker, Ala.

Army Col. John A. George has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. George is currently serving as director, joint and futures, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Randy A. George has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. George is currently serving as executive officer to commander, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

Army Col. Maria R. Gervais has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Gervais is currently serving as deputy commander, U.S. Army Cadet Command, Fort Knox, Ky.

Army Col. David P. Glaser has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Glaser is currently serving as deputy provost marshal general/deputy commander, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command and Army Corrections Command, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Thomas C. Graves has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Graves is currently serving as director, School of Advanced Military Studies, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Army Col. John F. Haley has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Haley is currently serving as commandant, U.S. Army Ordnance School, U.S. Army Sustainment Center of Excellence, Fort Lee, Va.

Army Col. Peter L. Jones has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Jones is currently serving as executive officer to the secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Richard G. Kaiser has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Kaiser is currently serving as chief of staff, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Army Col. John S. Kem has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Kem is currently serving as chief, programs division, Office of the Chief, Legislative Liaison, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Robert L. Marion has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Marion is currently serving as assistant deputy for acquisition and systems management, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Dennis S. McKean has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. McKean is currently serving as executive officer to the commander, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea, Seoul, Korea.

Army Col. Frank M. Muth has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Muth is currently serving as deputy commander, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.

Army Col. Leopoldo A. Quintas Jr. has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Quintas is currently serving as chief of staff, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Stewart, Ga.

Army Col. David W. Riggins has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Riggins is currently serving as director, acquisition and integration division, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management and Comptroller), Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Kurt J. Ryan has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Ryan is currently serving as military assistant to the assistant secretary of defense (logistics and materiel readiness), Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Mark C. Schwartz has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Schwartz is currently serving as chief of staff, Joint Special Operations Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Army Col. Scott A. Spellmon has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Spellmon is currently serving as commander, U.S. Army Operational Test Command, Fort Hood, Texas.

Army Col. John P. Sullivan has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Sullivan is currently serving as chief of transportation and commandant, U.S. Army Transportation School, Fort Lee, Va.

Army Col. Clarence D. Turner has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Turner is currently serving as commander, U.S. Army Engineer Division, South Pacific, San Francisco, Calif.

Army Col. Robert J. Ulses has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Ulses is currently serving as chief, Strategic Initiatives Group, Office of the Under Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Michael J. Warmack has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Warmack is currently serving as director, Civil Affairs Branch, U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Army Col. Eric J. Wesley has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Wesley is currently serving as director for Afghanistan and Pakistan, National Security Staff, Afghanistan-Pakistan Directorate, Washington, D.C.
