EL PASO - The odds were pretty good but neither the Ysleta nor Socorro Independent School District won the $1 million Broad Prize today.
The winners were announced at 10:25 a.m.
Philanthropist Eli Broad set up the prize to reward the district in the country that showed the best academic achievement for low income students.
Ysleta and Socorro did not go home empty handed though.
Each won secondary prizes of $250,000. The money is earmarked for college scholarships.
