Y.I.S.D. starts "Rachel's Challenge"
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Students in Ysleta Independent School District are being challenged to start a chain reaction.
Thursday, families and students heard a presentation that's influenced the country since 1999.
It's called 'Rachel's Challenge' and is about bullying prevention and treating one another with kindness.
Rachel was the first student who died in the Columbine School shooting in 1999.
Her parents later found a paper and journal entries about a chain reaction of kindness that she was trying to start.
"Our goal is to change from inside out one student at a time and treating each other with respect and care," said Janise Pries, the Director of Guidance and Couseling at Y.I.S.D.
Five families from each Y.I.S.D. school were chosen to help be ambassadors of kindness at their schools.
