Ysleta Independent School District students head back to school in two weeks and Saturday, the district made sure kids are prepared.

High school cheerleaders and mascots got students excited at the district's back to school rally.

The district gave away 2,000 free backpacks filled with school supplies to students ages four to 18.

This is the biggest rally since it started four years ago.

"We think it's really important to do this rally to get the students excited to go back to school and then second, we realize that school supplies and backpacks are very expensive so the parents are very grateful for that help," said Patricia Ayala.

Immunize El Paso gave free immunizations to students with chip or Medicaid cards.

YISD starts classes on August 26.
