EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A massive seizure for Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operation officers Friday involved a woman and her three minor children.
It happened around noon Friday at the Paso del Norte bridge. A drug-sniffing dog "Doky" alerted to the narcotics inside the woman's Chevy Silverado, which totaled 25.4 pounds and is valued at $812,800.
"This significant seizure was made during an enforcement sweep of vehicles waiting to enter the U.S. from Mexico," said Hector Mancha, CBP El Paso Port Director. "Following an initial canine alert CBP used multiple tools to locate this deeply concealed drug load."
After putting the vehicle through an x-ray machine at secondary inspection, the bundles were located.
They arrested Elizabeth Alvarado, 32, of Canutillo.
Her three children are in the custody of a relative.
