EL PASO — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has identified the woman killed in a crash near Vinton on Tuesday, as Berth Mejia, 69.

According to investigators, Mejia was a passenger in a 1998 Ford Expedition driven by Pedro Mejia, 79.  The SUV had a blow out on I-10 West and Mile Marker 4 near Vinton, causing the driver to lose control.  The SUV flipped and Bertha was thrown out.  She was taken to the hospital, where she later died. 

The driver was not injured.
 
Sheriff's investigators said Bertha was not wearing a seatbelt.  Speed and alcohol are not factors in the crash.
