EL PASO - An 80-year-old woman was killed at the intersection of Paisano and Trowbridge after crashing her car into a fire truck that was responding to an emergency call at about noon Saturday.
Police said the fire truck had it's lights and sirens on as it was travelling southbound on Trowbridge, and even had a green light at the time of the crash.
Investigators said the woman was traveling northbound on Paisano, crashed into the truck and was ejected. The woman died on the scene from her injuries.
Police said traffic at any intersection can be dangerous.
"Obviously that's where drivers have to use prudence and caution when approaching an intersection and entering an intersection," said Javier Sambrano, a spokesman for the El Paso Police Department.
It hasn't been determined if the woman was wearing a seat belt, but police confirm she was the only person in the car.
The woman's name is not being released at this point.
