A jury has sentenced a Las Cruces woman convicted of running over and killing her boyfriend last summer to the maximum prison sentence.

Annette Fuschini will spend three and a half years in prison and see five years probation, after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated DWI last week.

She ran over Carlos Nevarez III back on June 12 after the two had an argument.

Fuschini had initially been charged with first degree murder, but testimony during the three-day trial prompted the jury to convict her of lesser charges.

The district attorney's office spokeswoman says "D.A. Mark D'Antonio is a fan of the jury system," and prosecutors " are happy the jury gave the maximum sentence allowed."
