20-year-old sustains serious injuries in Northeast crash

Intersection of Gateway South and McCombs closed for several hours

A 20-year-old woman was seriously injured in an early morning single vehicle crash in Northeast El Paso.

The wreck happened on Gateway South and McCombs at 2:31 a.m. Tuesday. According to police, Miranda Marie Ross, 20, was driving south on McCombs at a high rate of speed and slammed her white, 2014 Volkswagen Jetta into a light pole at the intersection.

Ross was trapped in her car and emergency crews had to pull her out. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital with very serious injuries.

Special traffic investigators arrived on the scene to determine how the crash happened. There were no passengers in the car, and no other vehicles involved. 

Police closed Gateway South at McCombs for several hours following the crash.
