A woman gets $100 from a window company for doing a demonstration but when the check bounces, she's left with all the return fees.
Sally Rey cashed the check from Desert King Windows and checked her bank balance to make sure she had sufficient funds to do some holiday shopping. She spent less than she had, and didn't think she'd overdraft on her account. But, the check from Desert King bounced and she made five transactions before receiving the returned check in the mail. When she realized she may have over drafted, she checked her bank statement and saw that those five transactions were processed after the check bounced, causing her to overdraft on her account, racking up $125 in overdraft fees.
Desert King Windows has already written her a check for the amount of the bounced check and the return fee for the check. But the company says they are not responsible for the return fees for the five transactions because she should have had more than $100 in her account.
We'll have the full story tonight at 5, 6, and 10p.
