Wine Enthusiasts Flock To Southern New Mexico
LAS CRUCES, NM — For the 20th year in a row, the New Mexico Wine Growers Association are celebrating the region's wine tradition at The Southern New Mexico Wine Festival for three days on this holiday weekend at the fairgrounds outside of Las Cruces. This year, 17 wineries from New Mexico have set up booths for wine tasting. Other activities include wine classes as well as fun and games for the kids along with a variety of delicious food to go with the wine. Festival goers, like Nick Alwan, say the wine available here is truly one of a kind, "you hear wines like green chile and pistachio and you wouldn't buy those out of the blue, but if you get to try them, then you're actually like wow this pretty good wine."
Tickets are $15 for those 21 and up, and free for those under 21. The festival runs through Memorial Day from noon to 6 everyday
