Wilson named interim CEO of local workforce organization
El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — Workforce Solutions: Upper Rio Grande's Board of Directors voted to appoint former El Paso city manager Joyce Wilson as their interim chief executive officer.
Board leaders tell NewsChannel 9 C-E-O Lorenzo Reyes, Jr. and Chief Operating Officer Teofilo Ugalde resigned last week, though wouldn't give details as to the reason for the separation, or if they had been asked to resign.
Board Chair Bertha Gallardo says they hope to bring more focus on the counties outside of El Paso they serve, and believe Wilson has the credentials to get the job done.
"She has the connections with the business community, she has the connections with the elected officials, she has the foundation that we need in order to start developing more of the access and more of the programs that we feel are important to the community to start employing our folks," she said.
No word on when they will begin a search for a permanent replacement.
Wilson may have to ask permission from El Paso City Council Tuesday about the move, Gallardo said.
Gallardo said they may not hire another C.O.O. to replace Ugalde.
