Maternal, newborn and child deaths are still a problem around the world; a new study explains how they can be prevented.

The report estimates that each year 358,000 women die in pregnancy and child birth, and 7.6 million children die before they turn five.

The study recommends that doctors manage anemia in pregnant women, and provide extra feeding support for small and premature babies in order to mitigate the problem.

The three-year-long study was conducted by the World Health Organization.
