White House responds to Texas secession petition
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The White House has responded to a petition calling for Texas to secede from the union.
In short, it's answer was "no."
The petition, signed by more than 125,000 Texans, listed the size of Texas' economy and the state's balanced budget as reasons to split from the rest of the Untied States.
The White House responded, saying the founding fathers who created the nation "did not provide a right to walk away from it."
The White House has promised to respond to any petition that gets more than 25,000 signatures within 30 days.
