What does a new hospital mean for El Paso?
El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — A new hospital will soon be built in northwest El Paso.
Sierra Providence Health Network and Tenet made the announcement after city council approved the project.
It will be built right near the intersection of Resler Dr. and Transmountain, with construction set to begin this fall.
The hospital will initially have 108 beds, with the possibility to expand another 30.
It will operate as part of the Sierra Providence Health Network and will also serve as a teaching hospital for students from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center's Paul L. Foster School of Medicine.
Construction is expected to be complete by the fall of 2016.
The hospital is expected to bring hundreds of jobs in the medical field.
NewsChannel 9's Keagan Harsha will sit down with SPHN's CEO Eric Evans and Dr. Manuel de la Rosa tonight at 6:30 to talk about the need in one of the city's fastest growing areas.
