The Texas town devastated by a fertilizer plant explosion is suing two companies. On april 17th, a blast killed 15 people and leveled numerous homes, and damaged two schools and a nursing home.

The city of West accuses Adair Grain of negligently storing ammonium nitrate on its grounds before the blast. Their suit also accused CF industries of selling about 200 tons of the compound to the company without investigating whether the plant could store it safely.

CF Industries responded that it was sympathetic to those whose lives were affected, but believes there is no basis for the suit.

Adair Grain did not return a request for comment. The suit was filed the week after Fema denied additional aid to the town.
