West El Paso to Get New Trailhead
EL PASO - There's good news for you hikers or bikers out there. A new trailhead will be built in West El Paso, leading into the Franklin Mountains State Park.
There isn't anything there yet, but soon, there will be a parking lot, bench, and more landscaping. The water utility is leasing the land, and the Borderland Mountain Bike Association is footing the bill. The association's vice president said that now, more people will be able to enjoy El Paso's natural beauty.
"People are going to have a nice place to park and to make [it] a staging area for them to go off, and wander around in the desert,” said Brent Sanders, a mountain biker.
The water utility is leasing the area for at least five years.
