Water Conservation Essential In The Borderland
El Paso Water Utilities is asking everyone this winter season to conserve water.
Wasting water inside makes about as much sense as pouring money down the drain. But, for years, we've wasted thousands of gallons around the house.
They've offered some starting to get you started:
You can save a lot of water while getting ready every morning. Turning off the water while you wash your hair can save up to 150 gallons a month; turning off the water while you shave can save up to 300 gallons a month; and turning off the water while brushing your teeth can save 25 gallons a month, according to the EPA.
Seek your leaks. In a single house, leaky faucets of water each year, according to the EPA. Fixing them not only conserves water, it can save money on your monthly water bill.
Save your flushes. Don't use your toilet as a trash can. Flushing cotton balls, cotton swabs, and tissue wastes water. Reserve those flushes for after you've used the restroom.
Don't swamp our water supply. Use swamp coolers only when needed.
