El Paso Police arrested a man Thursday, two days after they say he burglarized a home and used a stolen credit card to make several purchases.

The Mission Valley Regional Command Tactical Unit began the investigation on February 26 when a woman reported her home had been burglarized and several items, including a debit card, were stolen. The issuing bank advised investigators where the stolen card had been used which led officers to various businesses on the east side of El Paso. Evidence was obtained to link 22-year-old Jorge Aguilar to the crimes.

On Thursday, investigators were contacted by a civilian employee with the Police Department's Pawn Shop Unit who informed them Aguilar was in Central El Paso attempting to pawn items. Mission Valley Tactical Officers coordinated with Central Tactical Officers who located Aguilar. Officers followed the suspect as he traveled back to the Mission Valley area. Once an arrest warrant was obtained officers moved in to arrest Aguilar who then fled on foot into a residential area. Officers located Aguilar hiding in a dog house. According to police, as officers were attempting to place Aguilar under arrest he became agitated and resisted. He was arrested after a brief struggle and was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a total bond of $59,000.00.

Charges include: Burglary of Habitation (2 Counts); Credit/Debit Card Abuse; Evading Arrest or Detention and Resisting Arrest, Search or Transportation.
