Voters Forget Belongings at Polling Places

Voters Forget Belongings at Polling Places

The polls are closed in Doña Ana County, but some voters left souvenirs behind.

County officials said from sets of reading glasses and stuffed envelopes of personal papers to driver's licenses and voter-information cards, a raft of found items has been turned in to the Doña Ana County Special Projects Office for processing through the county's lost-and-found system.

In cases where the found item includes clear contact information, every effort is being made to contact the owner. Many items - like driver's licenses, for instance - have only addresses associated with them. Because people move frequently, these items will not be mailed but held in hopes that the rightful owners will call or emails to claim them.

Voters who believe they may have left personal items at a polling site can email to describe the item(s) lost and leave contact information.
