Not many El Pasoans turned out to vote this past Saturday. Only 13.6 percent of El Paso County residents cast their ballots in this election, despite having eight mayoral candidates on the ballot.

Average turnout for the past five years has hovered right around 23 percent. There are almost 358,000 registered voters in the county, but only 49,000 people voted.

El Pasoans can vote again in the run-off election on June 15th.

Once again you hear that a lot of people are upset at the current makeup of city council but then on election day very few people actually vote. Que Pasa El Paso. Get out and get informed, find out about the candidates and go out and vote. If you are not still registereed to vote then get registered and vote. You have a few days to register so you can voter in the runnoff. Do it! Those of you that are registered and did not vote on Saturday or durring early voting = Shame on you!
