Violent Election Day in Juarez
There are some major changes to tell you about in Juarez. There's a new mayor of the city, a new governor of Chihuahua and a new party in control.
Hector Murguia has been chosen as Juarez's new mayor.
Cesar Duarte was declared the gubernatorial winner in yesterday's elections. Duarte got more than 54 percent of the vote with about 90 percent of the votes counted.
But the elections did little to stop the violence in Juarez. At least three people were murdered Sunday night.
The body of a man stabbed with a tube was dumped in a park. Monday morning two other men were executed in different parts of the city.
Two Juarez municipal police agents, a husband and wife team, were gunned down yesterday. Police say they were both riding in the same car, and uniformed, when they were attacked.
Another sign with threats against federal agents was found in north Juarez. The message, which was painted on a wall, warned that more agents will be killed if they continued supporting one of the cartels.
