CENTRAL EL PASO- It was a special Veterans Day for two vets who decided to tie the knot this morning at 11 a.m.

Every couple getting started can use some good luck, and they figured a ceremony on 11-11-11 was just icing on the wedding cake.

It was Johanna and Sergio's big day after dating for two years.

"I was actually in El Salvador working and he kind of just said let's get married over the phone, and I was all like okay,” said Johanna Perez.

Any extra good luck she can get by getting married on November 11th, 2011, she says is happy to accept.

"Of course you know? I mean it's a wedding. I think it’s hard enough as it is,” said Perez.

Maid of Honor, Mayra Rascon says she is glad her cousin is getting married on such a lucky day.

"I was actually pretty excited that she was able to choose such a special day and time. You know I hadn't thought about it initially then as I started looking into the calendar I noticed it was 11-11-11. I know a lot of people aim to do that, so I was really excited,” said Perez.

Minister Ruben Escandon Jr. says he usually performs two or three weddings on Fridays, and today he had 15 ceremonies on the schedule.

"I think you know, numerology says that one is lucky. Of course, 11 double digit numbers you know. There's certain attributes that come with lucky number, and a lot of people believe that. So, if they are going to believe that and it strengthens their marriage and they have a better shot at making it in marriage, then by all means it's worth the effort,” said Escandon.

The minister’s chapel scheduled ceremonies far enough apart, so that guests wouldn't walk into the wrong service.
