Van Hits, Injures Woman in Overnight Pedestrian Accident

Police arrested Joseph Montes, 19, in connection with a hit and run accdent on Mesa and Robinson in West El Paso.   

Montes is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, alcohol by a minor and accident involving serious bodily injury.
According to investigators, Montes stopped after he hit the woman but then got back into his van and drove away.

Officers caught up with Montes on Baltimore near Stanton where he was arrested.

Paramedics rushed a woman to the hospital overnght after she was hit by a van while crossing the street.

The pedestrian accident happened shortly before 2:00 a.m. Thursday on Mesa and Robinson in West El Paso.

According to emergency scanners, paramedics reported that the woman was breathing, but unconscious when they arrived.

No word on the severity of her injuries.

The van remained on the scene and police were able to question the driver.  Police have not said if that driver will face any charges.
