An 18-year-old Vado man was arrested Wednesday after his sister alleged he threatened her with a firearm, deputies said.

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 800 block of Lechuga in Vado just after 4 p.m. The victim said her brother, Rudolfo Ontiveros, was upset and began making threats towards her with what was described as “a long rifle.” The rifle was later determined to be a pellet gun.

Ontiveros fled on foot when deputies arrived, but was located a short time later and became combative, allegedly striking out with a broken beer bottle at deputies.

Deputies subdued Ontiveros and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to the Doña Ana County Detention Center on charges of battery against a household member and aggravated assault on a peace officer. His bond was set at $25,000 secured.
