UTEP will soon celebrate a milestone and you are invited
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — UTEP is kicking off its 100 day countdown to its centennial year celebration.
There will be plenty of activities, like free food, entertainment, and giveaways on the UTEP Centennial Museum lawn, but the one event that everyone has been waiting for is the unveiling of the big black box in front of the Centennial Museum which has remained a giant secret for weeks.
Monday's events are open to the public.
Festivities start at 11 a.m. but the official centennial countdown starts at 12 p.m.
There will also be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. for UTEP's new welcome center which is located inside of the Centennial Museum.
Visitors will be able to view exciting exhibits about UTEP's rich history, sign up for themed walking ours of the UTEP campus, view UTEP documentaries, visit the children's activity corner and purchase limited edition centennial celebration keepsakes in the museum's gift shop.
There also will be several rotating exhibits, all focusing on UTEP's history.
They will showcase such themes as UTEP athletics, UTEP in the news, UTEP and the Chicano movement, and a centennial photo contest.
