EL PASO- A UTEP student majoring in business already has his own business. It's been a project he's had in the works for years and now it's become a reality.
The Junior opened a recording studio in Central El Paso earlier this year that offers more than the standard recording session.
"You can tell anybody about your band or any history of you guys, what you've done, where you've played but if they can't hear your music professionally recorded it really doesn't help them out that much," said Glassbox Studio owner Mark Beatty.
Beatty knows first-hand the struggles musicians go through to land gigs. Being a musician, he knows the importance of marketing your sound. "I think we do have the talent of the likes of New Orleans, Chicago, New York and L.A. We just don't know how to expose it here," said Mark.
That's why he started Glassbox Studio, a place where artists can lay down their tracks without spending a fortune. "Here, you get the same quality you would get at a really expensive studio. We make it a lot more affordable, because we're not in the business to profit or anything like that. We're in the business to expose bands," said Mark.
So far, more than 30 clients have recorded at Glassbox Studio and it's not just musicians. The studio works with everything that has to do with sound. "We do audio clips, voiceovers for short films or just regular films or TV commercials, radio commercials, anything that needs to be professionally recorded, edited, mixed and mastered, we do all that here," he said.
Mark and his team also help his clients with press releases, media kits and merchandise. "What makes our studio different is that when you come here to record, you don't just come here, record the product and leave. We help you with all the necessary business ideas what you guys need to do to make your next step possible," said Mark.
Mark wants Glassbox Studio to become known for helping artists achieve their dreams. "Whether it's their first step in the door or whether it's signing to a major label. If we can be a part of that process in any way in the future then we've achieved success," said Mark.
