EL PASO - Tuesday's shooting on UT Austin's campus has reignited the debate on whether students should be able to arm themselves at school.

Right now, it's against the law to have a firearm on the campus of any UT public school.

But Gov. Rick Perry has come out in favor of letting legal guns on college campuses.

Today we asked UTEP students if they think it's a good idea.

As long as the student is licensed and trained in the use of a firearm, there wouldn't be an issue with those individuals. It's the unlicensed people you have to worry about!

Well, let me ask you this:
If a person were to bring a gun on campus, legal or not, and was in the classroom with you right now, and pulls it out and proceeds to shoot people with it, what would you prefer, you and your classmates to have firearms on you, or would you prefer to use your fists and maybe you could tackle him with a loss of only 2 to 4 of you.
However, the more likely scenario is that all you would flee out of the classroom or duck down behind your desks as he continues

No thats stupid. Fights go on everyday at schools and if you allow individuals to have guns with them at all times, that will just leave room for more shootings to take place.

Number One: What are they going to do, frisk everyone as they enter campus? Ban back packs, long coats? Think Not.
Number Two: Perry said LEGAal guns, not the Juarez variety.
Number Three: Anyone on the Juarez border can shoot INTO the UTEP campus. Any barricade would spoil the view and prevent people on the highway from seeing the wonderful architecture and the NEW pick in the middle of the round about (Laugh).
