UTEP Miner Football Team vs. Ft. Bliss Soldiers in Wing Eating Contest
EL PASO - Ain't no thing but a chicken wing. That's how one Fort Bliss soldier feels after winning a wing eating contest against some of his fellow soldiers.
Things got saucy as soldiers and Miner football players tried to get a leg up on a wing eating contest.
While a soldier threw down the wings the fastest in support of military night and school spirit.
"For us to get together is a big deed because the community is largely influenced by us, so for us to get together and show each other support we've got to all go out there and support the rest of the community," Cosme Urbina said.
Head coach, Mike Price, says this friendly competition is a great way for miner footballers to support the troops.
"It's good for our players to meet and talk with these soldiers because if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have the freedoms that we have in America, and our players sometimes, as everyone does, take that for granted," Price said.
Military night is this Saturday.
The Miners take on the Carolina Pirates at the Sun Bowl.
