NEW YORK CITY— The U.S. Mint revealed a medal in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks earlier Monday.
The pure silver medals, which sell for around $57, were issued Monday.
The Mint will make two million of these medals. The front of the coin shows Lady Liberty, holding a lamp of remembrance. The words “Always Remember” are inscribed as well. On the back, is an eagle.
Ten dollars from each medal will go to supporting operations at the 9/11 memorial and museum.
"In addition to paying tribute to those who were killed 10 years ago, this medal also represents a chance for people to help fulfill one of our most important obligations.. to ensure the 9/11 Memorial and Museum are able to be sustained and maintained for generations to come," said Joe Daniels, 9/11 Memorial President.
