The great recession did more than just kill jobs, it's prompted Americans to have fewer children.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention researchers say the U.S.birth rate fell to another record low last year. There were just 63 births per woman of child-bearing age, that's 15 to 44 years old.

It is the lowest birth rate since record-keeping began in 1909. That could mean economic problems years from now, with a shrinking labor pool and an aging population.

Researchers say a major reason for the drop is also related to the economy. They say about 22 percent of couples said money concerns prompted them to have fewer children, or no children at all.
