EL PASO - Early this morning firefighters tried their best to put out a barn fire in the upper valley before the flames spread out to the horse stalls and the family's home.

Fire crews brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes, but it wasn't an easy task because of the distance between the hydrants and the barn.

The horse farm is primarily used as a horse motel and of the 50 horses, one did pass away.

Damages are estimated at 10-thousand dollars and fire investigators are ruling the cause of the fire as undetermined.
