Police arrested Desiree Skaf, 21, in connection with a serious car crash in the Upper Valley Thursday.

Skaf is charged with two counts of accident involving personal injury or death, and one count of intoxicated assault.

The crash happened at 3:04 a.m. Thursday on Doniphan near Montoya.

According to police, Skaf was driving a Volkswagen Jetta along the 5900 block of Doniphan when she rear-ended the back of a Mazda 3.  The Mazda went off the road and slammed into a utility pole.  The driver of the Mazda, Iris Bustamante, 27 was injured and treated at Las Palmas hospital. The passenger in Bustamante's car, Janet Balderama, 25, was taken to University Medical Center with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Police said Skaf did not stop after the crash, but her car was found broken down a short distance away.  Skaf was also injured and was treated at the hospital before she was arrested.

Her bond is set at $275,000.
