UPDATED: Elderly Man Causes Ongoing SWAT Situation

DOÑA ANA COUNTY- A man is arrested following a SWAT standoff in Doña Ana County.
According to DASO Spokesperson Kelly Jameson, Exiquio Bustamante, 78, fired shots at his neighbor and the neighbors dog earlier Thursday evening on the 1900 block of Guamis Road.
The neighbor was able to get away. A girl believed to be the neighbors daughter came outside, at which point Bustamante pointed the gun at her, according to Jameson.
Bustamante then barricaded himself in his home.
The SWAT team was on scene for about an hour and a half until Bustamante surrendered to police around 8:30 p.m.
Bustamante is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Las Cruces- Dona Ana County deputies tell Newschannel 9 there's an ongoing SWAT situation. Sheriff spokesperson, Kelly Jameson says they are negotiating with a 78-year-old man who they believe has dementia. Police have been at the house for about 3 hours. They say the man may have a gun and they're not sure if anyone else is in the house with him. We'll continue to follow this breaking situation in Las Cruces.
