Update: Home cleared, no suspects found.

The search continues tonight for two armed suspects who held an elderly couple inside their own home Monday morning. It all began around seven o'clock the 15000 block of Socorro Road.

Deputies say the couple was eating breakfast when two armed intruders came barging through the front door and into the home, demanding cash, credit cards, and keys to the property. The two robbers started arguing with each other, and the couple managed to escape their home. They then flagged down their gardener and called 911.

"Thank God the owners of the house were not hurt. They were checked out. They are fine," said Chris Acosta, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office.

The intruders also managed to escape the home before police arrived. The couple says of the intruders were dressed in black, but sheriff's deputies have not released a description of the two.

Combined law enforcement had the area closed off from Alameda to Socorro in Fabens and have evacuated some surrounding homes and at least one business. Some side streets are also affected. A helicopter assisted in surveillance from the air while various law enforcement patrol on the ground.
