UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed in Far East El Paso

UPDATE at 4:00 p.m.-- EL PASO-- A woman died from her injuries after she was hit by a vehicle early Monday morning.

Virginia Fester, 72, was hit and killed after she attempted to cross Vista del Sol near Lou Graham. The driver of the vehicle, Edrick Arreolla, 34, was driving east on Vista del Sol when his 2006 Honda CRV hit Fester. El Paso police  were called to a pedestrian involved traffic crash, and EPPD's Special Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the call and began their investigation.

Police said there was no crosswalk at the intersection.

Fester died at the scene from her injuries. Police do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash, but are investigating whether or not speed was a factor.

No charges have been filed against Arreolla. The investigation continues.

 

UPDATE: 11:45am - Police said the 72-year-old woman was not in a crosswalk when she was hit and killed by a car this morning.

Police said it happened around 7:45am in the 1300 block of Vista Del Sol.

No charges have been filed against the 34-year-old man who was driving.

Police are still investigating and said it does not appear that alcohol is involved.

EL PASO –  An elderly woman was killed as she crossed a busy street in far East El Paso this morning.

Police said the 72-year-old woman was hit by a Honda CRV on Vista Del Sol near the intersection of Lou Graham.

The driver of the Honda was a 35-year-old man. Police are still investigating.
